Relax and recharge
If you are looking for a beautiful place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life . . . then Sherwood Hideaway is a must for you.
Nestled deep within Sherwood Forest, Sherwood Hideaway is a collection of luxury holiday lodges in a secluded setting, ideal for romantic escapes, family holidays and short breaks. The holiday lodge park is located on the magnificent Thoresby Hall Estate, where there is a fine range of leisure facilities for guests to enjoy including a spa, gym and restaurant.
The tranquil woodland setting, surrounded by leafy paths around theThoresby Estate and across Sherwood Forest, is ideal for those who enjoy walking or cycling. During our stay, my husband and I had great fun exploring the beautiful surroundings and woodland trails on foot – although cycle hire is available for those wishing to go further afield.
A walk up toThorseby Hall is a must, as is a visit toThe Courtyard – the former StableYard forThoresby Hall – which has been transformed into a diverse collection of speciality shops and a charming bistro. Whether you are searching for home interiors, bespoke jewellery, confectionery or hand-blown glass, you’ll find something to catch your eye.
The Courtyard is also home to The Thorseby gallery which exhibits the Pierrepont collection of paintings by the 6th Countess of Manvers, alongside paintings by local artists.
During our stay, we also took a drive around the area, exploring the beautiful village of Edwinstowe, which has many charming independent shops and a selection of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.
We also visited the historic town of Newark, which is about 15 miles away, for some much-needed retail therapy, before heading back to our lodge.
It is fair to say the lodges have been created to meet the expectations of those seeking a more luxurious holiday experience – from crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, sumptuous towels, duck down pillows and Molton Brown toiletries, it is obvious no expense has been spared.
All the furniture and fittings in the lodges have been carefully chosen, too. Whether you prefer a relaxed, cosy style or vibrant contemporary furnishings, you won’t be disappointed when you step inside. All the lodges have a 32 inch flat screenTV with Freeview channels, a DVD player, iPod docking stations, and free broadband connection, so there is plenty of modern technology to help you unwind.
As an added bonus, the lodge we were staying in also had a hot tub on the deck – accessed from the living area and with a privacy screen, large parasol and evening lighting – my husband and I enjoyed several dips during our stay, and really felt the stresses and strains ease away as we soaked in the warm bubbling water.
We would thoroughly recommend a stay at Sherwood Hideaway. Not only are the lodges incredibly well equipped and beautifully designed, they offer peace and tranquillity in the heart of the countryside, allowing guests the chance to really relax and recharge their batteries.
