Romantic Getaway Break
We booked a last minute weekend break for our wedding anniversary as we didn’t want to travel far and was so glad we booked to go here. We knew roughly what to expect before we arrived, and at first glance, the park has a lot of potential but was not very pleasing to the eye. This said, check in was very quick and although we arrived 1 hour early our lodge was ready and they gave us the keys.
We were in lodge 10 which is in a great spot on the edge of the park and is a VIP traditional 2 bed lodge. We were impressed from the moment we entered the lodge, with attention to detail throughout.
On entering, there is more than enough storage space for coats/boots etc and a large bench to sit and remove shoes. The open plan kitchen/diner and living room was decorated in warm tones and the central log burner was a great feature – we took solid fuel logs which you usually use at centre parcs with us for the burner (only £1.50 each at Lidl) or you could purchase wood from reception if needed.
The kitchen was very well equipped with quality utensils and a very large larder fridge for those essential bottles of wine! There was a complimentary box of chocolates and bottle of wine waiting for us which was lovely.
The main bedroom gave a real surprise, as there was a four poster bed which we wasn’t expecting and it was so comfy – a real gem, complete with fluffy towels and bathrobes. The main large bathroom had a bath with shower over, and the ensuite had a double rainfall shower which was great. Outside on the decking was quality rattan furniture and a gorgeous large quality hot tub which was lovely and private.
We took all of our food/snacks/drinks with us, as we knew there was nothing on site and we had a great weekend chilling out and enjoying one anothers company whilst free from the kids. We did get a takeaway from the local indian and they deliver free, as do the pizza/burger/kebab house. There was also a chinese restaurant if you fancied that too.
We would definitely go back for another break. Luxury at a very good price and a great location for days out.
Only negative was the so called wifi, as the signal was none existent (no phone signal either), but this only added to the getaway from it all experience. Well worth a visit!!
