Although miles from the coast, Nottingham is a prime location for anyone who loves water sports. The National Water Sports Centre (around 20 miles from Sherwood Forest) is set in 300 acres of stunning parkland and is home to some of the UK’s best white and flat water. There is a range of activities for beginners to the advanced, including water skiing, white water rafting, sailing, pond-skating and canoeing.

Go Ape is a ‘high-wire forest adventure’ that is not for the faint-hearted. The setting features a series of sky-high obstacle courses built within Sherwood Forest – ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels all lead to a variety of zip-lines, including the country’s longest at 426m!
Safety is of course first on the list when you arrive, with a safety and training briefing as well as a full kit of harnesses, pulleys and karabiners. Also available are bikes for hire so you can explore at ground level among the many cycle trails. There is a kids’ playground and barbecues are available for hire at the picnic area.

Paintball Nottingham puts on some of the finest and most exhilarating paintball game zones available, so be prepared to have a rip-roaring, action-packed and trigger happy day.
If you are travelling with younger teens there is now a low impact game that takes the sting out of a paintball strike, but still provides the exhilaration of a paintballing adventure.

Airsoft is an alternative to paintball, following the same theme of war games played in the forest of Sherwood, but with pellets that are less painful than paintball, and less expensive to play with.
