The name says it all – ‘The Sherwood Hideaway’. As you drive off the main road you are engulfed in a drive way guided by the trees of the forest, taking you into an idyllic Hideaway away from the hustle and bustle that is day to day life. A place free from distractions, where you’re able to truly relax and unwind.
We sit on land which is part of the Thoresby Estate owned by the Pierrepont family since 1630 and one of the four Heritage estates which formed ‘The Dukeries’
Thoresby Park was laid out in the 17th century in a formal, geometric, Jacobean style. This was subsequently softened and rounded on the advice of Capability Brown and then Humphrey Repton, both of whom we must thank for the mature landscape that we now enjoy.
In 2009 the Pierrepont family formed a joint venture with a luxury lodge developer to rejuvenate the former Ministry of Defence Proteus Park site… to give us The Sherwood Hideaway.
A quiet, rural escape
Our luxury Sherwood Forest lodges are laid out in such a way that gives you ample external space and privacy, that at times you may not see another visitor. Inside the lodges you’ll be met with luxurious comfort giving you all you need in their self-catering layout, quite simply, you can close off the rest of the world as soon as you enter.
It’s a rather simple combination. We’ve no clubhouse or live entertainment, we are about reconnecting with our loved ones and the nature around us – just beautiful, luxury lodges in a stunning woodland setting.
