Our luxury lodges with hot tubs are perfectly located for cycling breaks with way-marked trails along road and dirt tracks that will suit all ages and abilities.

Take a short cycle through the woods on a private trail, join up with the ancient Sherwood Route, or explore Clumber Park, which was once the country estate of the Dukes of Newcastle and is now a pretty parkland with gardens, peaceful woodlands and a magnificent lake.

The Ancient Sherwood Route

One of the most popular cycleways is the Ancient Sherwood Route. Starting at the Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre, this route takes you on a journey through Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve, through beautiful woodland and on to Clumber Park.

This flat and easy to follow route makes for an easy day of cycling and is designed to incorporate refreshment stops along the way at some of Nottinghamshire’s top attractions.

Take a break in the pretty village of Edwinstowe and visit St Mary’s Church, where Robin said ‘I do’ to Maid Marian, and while here refresh yourself with a delicious pub lunch in the wooden-beamed dining room of Forest Lodge Hotel.

The Kitchener Trail

To the south, in Forest Pines Park is The Kitchener Trail, which is red graded and designed for serious mountain bikers only. The Kitchener Trail flows through forest linking broadleaf and pine woodland with Heathland and clear fell. The trail is virtually 100% singletrack the only time your tyres hit fire road is when you cross one to hit the next section. At 13km long, it is fast and a challenge to ride at differing times of the year and is a great introduction to riding singletrack for riders wanting to progress.

Bike Hire

To save bringing your own bikes with you, we work closely with a local bike business that are able to deliver a bike directly to you. Your bike will be here for your arrival and they’ll pick it up on your departure! Saves you having to balance any bikes on an already filled to the brim car on your cycling holiday in the Sherwood Forest.

Thoresby Park Cycle Hub

Offering standard and electric bikes with delivery and collection.
