We were so delighted to have received another gold award in 2019 for our steps to assist in conserving the natural environment through the David Bellamy Conservation Scheme as well as our badge for being ‘bee friendly’. The team have a real valued interest in supporting nature, after all we are in the middle of the forest!
So to have news from Rufus (son of David) that we had also been awarded a Special Distinction Award in the 2019 David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme (DBCAS) you can imagine how proud we stood.
The Special Distinction Award is in recognition of our new nature trail, ‘Woody’s Ranger Walk’. Apparently the assessor was particularly impressed by the way it integrates some important environmental messages and uses QR codes to access educational resources on-line. They also liked that there is a reward for the user once they have completed the trail and got back to base.
We have just received our certificate and have it in pride of place on our wall with our other accolades! We hope it becomes a talking point with our guests giving us the opportunity to explain to them what we are doing to help the British countryside and the wider environment!
Remember that when you come to stay here at Sherwood, you will be in the heart of nature, it’s an absolute blessing!
