Our kids are living in a technology dominant era with phones, games consoles and computers taking over their world.
Hands up if your child’s life seems to revolve around their computers and phones 🙋♀️.
Trying to get them to get in the shower takes an age as they are in the middle of a game, and they couldn’t possibly end it now as it’s at a vital stage. So you give them another 10 minutes and ask again, but no still not finished, you give in for another 10 minutes then ask again, but this game is apparently never ending, this is the point when enough is enough and you put your foot down and tell them to turn it off now, because if you wait until they are ready you would be 5 years older and they would be really smelly!
Then you have the melt down to deal with, are told you have ruined their life and all the other dramatics. It is exhausting! You, my lovely parent, need a family holiday without any gadgets or gizmos!
Great news! When you stay with us here at The Sherwood Hideaway this will be a thing of the past (well, for a few days anyway).
With so much to see and do on your lodge doorstep and in the area, quality family time is easy to achieve and with no computers in sight. Wake up to the sound of birds chirping and the stunning forest views out of your windows, then after a good breakfast head straight out your door for activities galore!
You can arrange a free Ranger Walk with our extremely knowledgeable Rangers, they will take you around the park discussing the beehive, bat box and natural fauna of the area. Then you can head deeper into the woodland and explore the wonders of the Sherwood Forest. You have the choice to do this on foot or you could book bike hire for the day or duration of your stay, delivered and collected from your lodge.
Take a pit stop at Thoresby Courtyard for a well-deserved drink and slice of cake. Now you have refuelled it’s time to make your way to the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre where you can learn everything there is to know about the magical forest and the iconic man himself, Robin Hood! So not only is this a great day out for exercise and fresh air but it’s a learning experience as well.
If you and your family enjoy a fishing holiday or would love to give it a try, that is also offered here as our guests have access for a small fee to the well-stocked Stans Lake on the Thoresby Estate. A little friendly competition could be had for the catch of the day!
With a fun packed day done it’s now time to head back to your luxury lodge and wind down in your private hot tub before an amazing night’s sleep. Wake up the following morning bright and bushy tailed ready for more adventures.
The huge choice of things to do with kids at our Sherwood Hideaway means there is never a dull moment to be had, there is so much to choose from. We thought we would help you out by putting together a list of some of our favourites.
